How big are the class sizes?
We currently have a membership base of around 30 students. A typical class size is 10 - 15 students so you'll get plenty of attention if you want it.
Am I too old or too young to start?
You can start at any age. Adrian started when he was 11 and Fiona started when she was 18. We have a wide range of ages from 13 to 45 years old. 13 is the youngest that we will teach. There is no upper age limit (good job eh Mark!).
Is it only men that do it?
No. In fact on some nights the girls out number the boys, which the boys don't mind at all ;)
Is everyone really good?
Yes. If you put the time in then you will soon get to a proficient level. We have a range of abilities from absolute beginner right through to advanced.
Is it really free?
Yes. If you join the Brackley
énergie fitness club the kickboxing classes are free. Other free classes are also on offer.
What if I don't want to join the gym?
Lessons are £4.
What do I need to wear?
Just wear something comfortable that won't restrict your movement like tracksuit bottoms or shorts. Please don't wear anything with exposed zips. Don't be offended if you are asked to remove any jewelry; this is to protect you and those that you train with.
Do I need any special equipment?
We have all the equipment you need from focus mitts to sparring safety equipment. If you would like to spar you will need a gum shield. Guys - you will need a groin guard especially if you are fighting Fiona!
Do I have to spar?
No. You can do want you want to do. Sparring is optional not compulsory. You are free to watch to get an understanding of how it is done before having a go.
What kind of sparring do you do?
We do semi contact and light continuous sparring. Semi contact is points fighting where the fight is stopped and continued after a point is scored. Light con is more like boxing where the fight keeps going until the end of the round.
